PPF

FAQs

Are there any specific aftercare instructions for PPF?
After applying your PPF, you may notice small bubbles appearing within the first few weeks. This is a normal part of the curing process. We recommend scheduling a complimentary PPF check with us two weeks after installation to ensure everything looks perfect. If any edges lift or pop up on their own, please avoid touching them and let us address the issue for you.
How often should I wash my PPF?
Regular washing is key to maintaining your PPF's appearance and performance. We recommend washing your car every 1-2 weeks using a pH-neutral soap and avoiding high-pressure washers near the edges of the film. If you notice sap, insects, or environmental stains, clean them as soon as possible to prevent long-term damage.
How soon after installation can I wash my car?
While your car will leave Zephyr Motorsports looking pristine, we recommend waiting at least 48 hours before washing to allow the film to properly set and cure.
My PPF is damaged! What should I do?
Light scratches in PPF typically heal themselves within 20-30 minutes at room temperature. For more significant damage, give us a call or visit our shop for a professional assessment. Our team will determine the best solution, which may include a partial replacement.
Can I use waxes or sealants on my PPF?
Waxing or sealing your PPF is an excellent way to keep it looking fresh! We recommend using silica sealants, especially if you also have ceramic coatings. Every 3-4 months, an application of wax will ensure you never have a dull moment when driving around town.
What happens if my PPF turns yellow?
At Zephyr Motorsports, we partner with top-tier brands to ensure superior quality. While discoloration is rare with the products we use, we stand by the warranties offered by our brands, which range from 1 to 10 years depending on the product selected. If you ever encounter discoloration, contact us, and we'll assist in resolving the issue promptly.
Why is PPF more expensive than vinyl wrap?
PPF provides superior protection against rock chips, scratches, and environmental damage, whereas vinyl wraps are primarily for aesthetic customization. PPF uses advanced self-healing technology and thicker, more durable materials, and its application process is more complex, requiring specialized skills and precision.
Will the PPF hurt my paint when it's time to pull it off?
No, PPF is designed to be safely removed without damaging your vehicle's paint. In fact, it helps preserve the original finish. We recommend professional removal to ensure no adhesive residue is left behind.
Is there a warranty offered?
Yes, we offer warranties ranging from 1 to 10 years depending on the brand and product you choose. For detailed warranty terms and coverage, schedule a consultation with our team.
What type of car wash would you recommend to maintain longevity?
We recommend using a professional car wash company or detailer familiar with PPF and vinyl. They will use the appropriate chemicals and techniques to ensure your film stays in top condition. If you prefer DIY washing, use pH-neutral soap, microfiber towels, and avoid abrasive tools.
How long will it take to install PPF?
The installation time varies depending on the coverage you select. A full front-end package may take 1-2 days, while a full-car wrap can take 3-5 days. Contact us for a detailed estimate tailored to your vehicle and service needs.
